Nike World Cup Campaign

When the Italian Football Team won the World Cup, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam set out to create a poster campaign to celebrate this achievement. The concept of this campaign was to create a series of posters inspired by italian advertising in the 40’s but, with a modern soccer twist. Mauro Gatti, Mutado’s Creative Director, was chosen to illustrate two of these posters.
The first poster was for Cannavaro, the celebrated italian defender and team captain. This poster showed the player holding a giant golden cup of ice cream which, is reminiscent of the world cup trophy.
The second poster was constructed for Iaquinta, one of the goal scorers during the World Cup games. This poster shows the player kicking pears in the sky – in italian the word for the pear fruit is the same as the word for goal.
Mutado would like to thank Carlo and Giuliano for this great commission!
